Writing Sound 2

Lydgalleriet_writingsound2_FIN2_WEB2Will’s piece R-ARK38 is one of the exhibits at Writing Sound 2, an exhibition running in Bergen, Norway, from 21 November to 14 December 2014. Many of the exhibits were presented in online form at the exhibition’s blog for the duration of the exhibition. Will’s piece is a version of ARK 38, an electroacoustic composition by the US poet Ronald Johnson.


Writing Sound 2

Will has contributed a piece, R-ARK38, to Writing Sound 2, an exhibition curated by Daniella Cascella. The exhibition runs from 20 November  to 14 December 2014. Will’s piece is a treatment of the poet Ronald Johnson’s audio work ARK 38.


T.R.E.E. performances – London and Bury

Will and Carol Watts perform their collaborative work T.R.E.E. at POLYproject: Writing Trees in London on 19 February and at the Bury Text Festival on 4 May.


‘Thames Water Live’ issued on Every Contact Leaves a Trace

A live performance of Thames Water, recorded at a Bang the Bore gig in Southampton in 2012, has been issued as a CDR and download on the new label Every Contact Leaves a Trace. The piece is paired with a solo bass performance by Dominic Lash.

Earshots

Will performs on a bill that includes Seymour Wright earshots2-A4and Alan Wilkinson (alto sax duet) and keyboardist Pat Thomas. Earshots is a new series that programmes improv alongside work that uses field recordings. Will will present a piece made in response to two scores by Manfred Werder. Earshots, Hundred Years Gallery, 13 Pearson Street, London E2 8JD; Saturday 5 October, 7.15pm.


2 willow road

show and tell flyerWill presents a live version of Heygate (Winds Measure WM25) and discusses the work at 2 Willow Road, the former home of architect Ernö Goldfinger. Also appearing are Charlie Warde, whose exhibition in the venue explores Goldfinger’s blueprint for the modern home; Tom Cordell, director of Utopia London; and photographer Simon Terrill, whose Balfron Project is based on Goldfinger’s  East London landmark. Manfred Werder 2005(1), actualised by Will Montgomery for Another Timbre

Will’s actualisation of Manfred Werder’s celebrated composition 2005 (1) has been posted on the Another Timbre website as part of a series of versions of the piece. There’s also an interview with Werder.


forest memory

Material from Will’s collaborative project with Carol Watts, T.R.E.E., will form part of an exhibition curated by Amy Cutler in June. Forest Memory will be in the belfry of St John in Bethnal Green. Details of the project are on its Kickstarter page.


displacement activity

On Saturday 15 June Will performs at the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton. The event, Displacement Activity, is organised by Bang the Bore to coincide with the gallery’s Robert Smithson and Nancy Holt exhibition. Also performing are Neil Chapman, Seth Cooke, Sarah Hughes, Dominic Lash and David Stent. Will will realise two recent scores by Manfred Werder.


amid the ruins

On 25 April Will performs at the Daniel Blau gallery in London. The event, ‘Amid the Ruins‘, launches a new performance series. Also on the bill are the poets Sophie Robinson, Jennifer Cooke and Adrian Clarke.
